Spielberg to bring King's Under the Dome to TV

(Laurence Kesterson/Associated Press)Steven Spielberg and Stephen King are joining forces to bring King's new thriller Under the Dome to the small screen.
DreamWorks TV announced Friday that Spielberg will executive produce a mini-series based on Under the Dome, a novel released last week.
The 1,100-page Under the Dome follows the drama in a small Maine town after an invisible force field descends around it, making it impossible to go in or out.
As people in the town struggle for survival, they divide into two warring camps led by opportunistic leaders. The book has been hailed as a return to form for the prolific King.
DreamWorks TV has optioned the book, which deals with themes of religion, ideology and ecological disaster.
It is looking to sign scriptwriters before it tries to sell the idea, probably to a cable network, according to Variety.
Spielberg, director of Close Encounters of the Third Kind and Raiders of the Lost Ark, is executive producing United States of Tara for TV.
