Actor Kelsey Grammer will attend the Monday parole hearing of the man convicted of killing his sister 34 years ago in order to object to his release.

Grammer plans to attend the hearing at the Limon Correctional Facility in Limon, about 145 km southeast of Denver, a U.S. Department of Corrections spokeswoman told the Colorado Springs Gazette.

Karen Grammer was an 18-year-old waitress at a Red Lobster in Colorado Springs in 1975 when Freddy Glenn and another man tried to rob the restaurant. The pair kidnapped her, afraid that she could identify them. When her body was recovered, she had been raped repeatedly and stabbed in the throat and back.

Only Glenn, now 52, was convicted of Karen Grammer's rape and murder. He is serving life sentences for three murders, including hers, in 1975.

Although Colorado law no longer allows parole for those sentenced to life in prison for first-degree murder, Glenn was convicted before the law was changed in 1990 so it doesn't apply to his case.

Frasier star Grammer was 20 when his sister was killed, and he had to identify her body. He has said he will do everything he can to keep her killer behind bars.

He planned to attend a parole hearing last year, but Glenn waived that opportunity.
