It seems it's time to bury the hatchet between talk show host David Letterman and U.S. Republican presidential candidate John McCain.

McCain is slated to appear on the Late Show with David Letterman this Thursday, after a last-minute cancellation in September that created an uproar — at least, on Letterman's end.

Letterman has been bombarding viewers with jabs at the senator after McCain cancelled an appearance in September, instead popping up for an interview with Katie Couric.

McCain said he didn't feel he should appear on a comedic show while the U.S. economy was in dire straits. At the time, he said he needed to board a plane to Washington D.C., to deal with the financial crisis hitting Wall Street.

It was soon revealed that he was never on a plane but rather was being interviewed by Couric.

Since then, Letterman has been relentlessly bashing the senator.

"John McCain blew off Michigan! Well, I know how they feel," joked Letterman recently.

"Maybe you've noticed that all of John McCain's problems began when he bailed out on this show. Are you aware of that? Well, the road to the White House runs right through here!"

In fact, McCain and Letterman have had a friendly relationship in the past. The politician announced his presidential run on the show back in February 2007.

McCain's visit to the show on Oct. 16 will mark his 13th appearance.
