The first family of reality TV, Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, are headed back to the small screen with a variety series to be aired at Christmas.

American Idol producer FremantleMedia North America is planning the six-part series and says there is U.S. network interest, but no deal has yet been signed.

The as-yet-untitled show will feature musical performances and comedy sketches, including Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy skewering pop culture.

It will also feature the sibling rivalry between Kelly, 23, and her brother, Jack, 22, one of the hallmarks of their successful MTV reality TV series in 2002.

That show made the family into celebrities and led to TV careers for all its members, with Jack getting his own U.K. show, Jack Osbourne: Adrenaline Junkie, while Kelly hosts the fashion show Project Catwalk and has starred in Life as We Know It.

Fremantle, which already employs Sharon Osbourne as a judge on America's Got Talent, said the show would "tap into what the Osbournes do best, which is be themselves." Sharon Osbourne was also a judge on the U.K. program The X Factor.

With many reality TV talent shows borrowing aspects of old '70s-style variety shows, some industry insiders predict a resurgence of variety shows.

"We've been talking about how to renew the variety show concept and make it feel new for years now," Mike Darnell, Fox Network's president of alternative programming, said in an interview with Variety.
