Documentary filmmaker Jennifer Baichwal, fashion reporter Jeanne Beker and Degrassi co-creator Linda Schuyler are among five women to be honoured for their work in film and television at an awards ceremony next month.
The three women, along with Shaftesbury Films CEO Christina Jennings and Alliance Atlantis executive Karen Gelbart, will be honoured on Dec. 4 at the Crystal Awards, Women in Film and Television-Toronto announced on Tuesday.
Documentary-maker Jennifer Baichwal followed photographer Edward Burtynsky as he captured images in China, including this shipyard at Qili Port, in Zhejiang province, in the film Manufactured Landscapes. Baichwal will receive an award in December from the Women in Film and Television-Toronto.

Schuyler will receive the CTV International Achievement Award for her part in bringing to life the series of Degrassi dramas, a groundbreaking series that followed a group of youths beginning with 1982's The Kids of Degrassi Street.
Schuyler, who is also CEO of Epitome Pictures, has co-created and executive-produced all the shows in the 25-year-old Degrassi franchise, including the latest series, Degrassi: The Next Generation.
"Her mark on the Canadian production landscape is irrefutable and she is a true inspiration to the Canadian production community," Sue Sheridan, executive director of Women in Film and Television-Toronto, said in a release.
Schuyler's other television credits include the CBC dramatic series Liberty Street and Riverdale.
Documentary filmmaker Jennifer Baichwal will be honoured with the Creative Excellence Award. Baichwal's first documentary, 1998's Let It Come Down: The Life of Paul Bowles, won a 1999 International Emmy for Best Arts Documentary.
Her other features include The True Meaning of Pictures: Shelby Lee Adams' Appalachia, and this year's Manufactured Landscapes, her portrait of Canadian industrial photographer Edward Burtynsky.
The award for outstanding achievement will be given to Jennings, the CEO and chair of Shaftesbury Films, which has made such TV films as Terry, Hemingway vs. Callaghan and the upcoming adaptation of Margaret Atwood's The Robber Bride.
Gelbart, the senior vice-president of content for lifestyle channels with Alliance Atlantis, will be honoured with a mentorship award while Beker, host and producer of FT-Fashion Television, will be given a Crystal Jury Award.

FILM REVIEW: Men in Black 3 by Eli Glasner May. 25, 2012 11:40 AM Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones are back in the action sequel Men in Black 3, a third instalment of a series now 15 years old. Though new addition Josh Brolin manages some amazing mimicry as a younger version of Jones, the story doesn't measure up to the weird and wonderful charms of the original, says film reviewer Eli Glasner.
