A Degrassi cheerleader is heading off to America's most famous zip code.

Shenae Grimes of CTV's Degrassi: The Next Generation has been cast in an upcoming spinoff to the '90s teen soap opera,  Beverly Hills 90210.

Grimes is set to play Annie Mills, 16-year-old daughter of Celia Mills, played by Lori Loughlin.

Loughlin's character moves from Kansas to Beverly Hills to care for her alcoholic mother.

In an interview with ETalk, the Toronto actress said she's had to keep pinching herself since learning the news.

Grimes has played cheerleader Darcy Edwards on Degrassi for four seasons.

Details of the new series are sketchy, but 90210 star Jennie Garth is rumoured to reprise her role as Kelly Taylor.
