FILM REVIEW: Jiro Dreams of Sushi

Jiro Dreams of Sushi is a delectable delight for foodies and film fans alike, as well as a testament to the art of simplicity. Though master chef Jiro Ono makes for a fascinating profile subject, director David Gelb's uninventive technique waters down the final result.

Bully doc gets PG rating in Canada, R in U.S.

Canada's film rating agencies have always had greater tolerance for both swearing and sex, especially where it fits the context of the story being told. Bully, a documentary about teen bullying that has an R rating in the U.S. because of swearing, has been given a PG rating in five Canadian provinces. It's a cultural difference that's not apparent on the surface, but will affect how many teens in Canada can see a film about bullying in schools.

FILM REVIEW: Salmon Fishing in the Yemen

A surprisingly fresh take on a well-worn formula, Salmon Fishing in the Yemen succeeds due to its off-kilter casting and a dash of political intrigue. Though not perfect, the film's deviations from the typical rom-com blueprint make this fish tale one worth saving, says Eli Glasner.
