Why Eric Stoltz didn't get the lead in Back to the Future

Back to the Future is about to celebrate its 25th anniversary. In anticipation of the big day, the Hollywood Reporter has released exclusive footage from BTTF's upcoming re-release, which reveals that Michael J. Fox wasn't meant to play Marty McFly after all. Eric Stoltz was originally cast in the role - until the producers realized he wasn't nearly funny enough to pull off McFly's golden pratfalls. Stoltz's past with Future isn't exactly news - BTTF fans have known the fact for years. But now we've got actual footage of it.

Homeless man performs Under Pressure with two Kermits
