Spider-Man trailer: fresh take or more of the same?

Spider-Man? Yes. Amazing? Maybe.
The first full-length trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man -- the reboot of the comic-turned-movie trilogy -- has been released.
Considering the previous movie franchise ended a mere five years ago and that we've been bombarded with news about the troubled Spider-Man Broadway musical since then, this reboot does beg the question: Do we really need to revisit Spider-Man?
Let's review the similarities, shall we? The premise of this new movie seems to fit the same mold as the previous franchise: quiet ol' Peter Parker discovers his amazing, spider-like abilities and goes on to fight crime. Sure there's a new villain this time around (who happens to be a lizard), but really, these baddies all serve the same villainous function. In this trailer, we even hear the same familiar, joyous "Woo-hoo" from Spider-Man as he swings from building to building.
As far as the differences go, there aren't many. We get our first peek at the new cast, namely Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker. Garfield, who you may remember from the uber-successful The Social Network, fits the bill of the nerdy young hero, but we're waiting to see if he brings anything different to the character as established by his predecessor Tobey Maguire. Emma Stone, who plays Parker's girlfriend Gwen Stacy (the one before Mary Jane), also makes an appearance.
There's no doubt that the effects look great and the film will likely be fun to watch, but at this point, The Amazing Spider-Man hasn't really set itself apart (unlike the recent comic book revamp). We'll see when it hits theatres on July 3rd.
What do you think of the trailer? Are you looking forward to the reboot?
