Canadian-American actor Brendan Fraser will make his Broadway debut this fall in Elling, a comedy about two mismatched roommates.

Fraser, star of The Mummy and Gods and Monsters, has been seen on the stage in London's West End in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.

He'll star alongside Denis O'Hare of True Blood in the comedy to begin this November at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre.

Elling has been adapted for the English stage by Simon Bent from the Norwegian novels of Ingvar Ambjornsen.

Fraser plays the wildly enthusiastic gentle giant Kjell, while O'Hare will star as the obsessive-compulsive would-be poet Elling as they negotiate life and love from a small apartment. Jennifer Coolidge and Richard Easton will co-star.

Elling had a critically acclaimed stage premiere at the Bush Theatre in London and transferred to the West End before heading to New York.

A 2001 Norwegian film of Elling was nominated for a best foreign language Oscar.

Fraser, the American-born son of Canadian parents, was educated at Upper Canada College in Toronto and lived with his family in both Canada and the U.S. before heading to Hollywood.
