A trailer for the movie musical Sparkle was released Monday, giving us a glimpse of Whitney Houston's last project. The late singer appears both in coiffed splendour and a dejected woman in housecoat and curlers in this clip. She plays a former singer and the mother of Jordin Sparks, a young woman who rises in a Supremes-like group in the 1960s. Comparisons to Dreamgirls are inevitable. Sparks is an American Idol winner with two albums to her credit who has since appeared in In the Heights on Broadway. Sparkle is due for release in August, according to IMDB.
