Will Smith's daughter releases hip-hop song

Categories: Music

Last spring, Will Smith's son and budding actor, Jaden (The Karate Kid), released a rap song with tween idol, Justin Bieber. Now, his sister wants in on the party.

Willow Smith's new hip-hop song hit the web Tuesday. And you know what, it's not half bad. In fact, it's kind of awesome. The nine-year-old actress -- who worked with her dad on I Am Legend and her mom, Jada Pinkett Smith, on Madagascar 2 -- shows off her singing skills on the single Whip My Hair.

On this Rihanna-esque track, she asks all her "ladies" to "whip [their] hair back and forth" to shake off "haters." It might not be particularly deep, but what can we expect from a fourth grade fashionista? Plus, it's much more schoolyard friendly than anything Miley has ever released.

Whip My Hair has reportedly caught the attention of Jay-Z, which is no surprise considering he was the man who introduced us to Rihanna. Rumour has it, he wants to sign her to his label, Roc Nation. Beyonce must be into it, too. Her sister, fellow singer Solange recently tweeted, "Willow Smith make me wanna whip some haiiirrr in this house. Ummm kill em girl. Kill em!"

Willow's famous dad and mom, both of which have had music careers (the Fresh Prince was a rapper, Jada has a metal band), seem to be ready for their daughter to kick a career of her own. According to MTV News, Jada announced Willow's upcoming album in Ambassador magazine back in June.

Let's just hope Willow doesn't follow Rihanna's PVC fetish.
