Bublé goes Bieber in new video

Categories: Music

If Justin Bieber doesn't already have a beef with Michael Bublé, he might now. Back in April, Bublé stole the Junos right out from under the Biebs' bangs. Now, he's poking fun at the pint-sized pop star in his new music video.

In Hollywood, Bublé pretends to be Bieber, donning a dirty blond wig, a bright blue hoodie and tricked-out sneaks. It's not a mean-spirited imitation by any means (Bublé's website calls it "hilarious but loving"). If anything, it's accurate. In fact, Bublé looks a little bit too much like what I imagine Biebs will look like in 10 years.

In addition to dressing like him, Bublé also seems to speak directly to Bieber, and I'm assuming, all other pop cultural guppies, with the video. In the chorus, Bublé says that you shouldn't "go higher for desire" because "Hollywood is dead" and can only be found "in yourself." In other words, I guess, young stars need to stop trying to imitate other stars' success and just be themselves.

Although it's definitely the highlight, Bieber is not the only star Bublé sends up in Hollywood. The rest of the video has the crooner storming a sound stage, watching himself dress up as famous figures such as a young Clint Eastwood, a modernized James Dean, a brunet Bret Michaels and what seems like a paparazzi-hating George Clooney.

At one point, Bublé has a western-style stand-off with the cowboy version of himself. The scene is clearly meant to amp up the video's obvious camp. But it just had me wondering who the not-so-highly-veiled lyrics are really directed at.
