New music fest set for Niagara

Phoenix, Girl Talk and Hot Chip to headline Grove Music Festival

Acts including Phoenix, Girl Talk and hip-hop chart-toppers Macklemore and Ryan Lewis will headline a new music festival set for this summer in Ontario’s scenic Niagara-on-the-Lake.

The inaugural Grove Music Festival will also feature acts including Hot Chip and New Jersey rockers Gaslight Anthem, together with punk veteran Bob Mould, British garage-rockers Palma Violets, San Diego's Wavves and promising Swedish duo Icona Pop.

The one-day boutique festival is set for Aug. 3 at the Butler’s Barracks historic site. It is organized by the indie music label Arts & Crafts and by U.S.-based concert promoter Goldenvoice, which also runs the annual Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in California

Arts & Crafts is home to acts including Broken Social Scene, Feist and Dan Mangan.

"Music festivals are a special, sacred experience. People coming together around the shared love of music. Niagara-on-the-Lake is the perfect setting for this magic to take place,” said Arts & Crafts co-founder Jeffrey Remedios.

Early-bird tickets go on sale Tuesday for roughly $85 including fees, while general admission tickets will be available Friday for about $95.
