After taking the web by storm, the viral music video for Young Rival's "Two Reasons" has been nominated for a Prism Prize.

The inaugural award recognizes achievement in music video direction in Canada.

The video — a collaboration between the Hamilton band and Michigan face-painting artist James Kuhn — went viral late last year, quickly amassing more than 600,000 views in just 10 days.

Bassist John Smith edited the video together using recorded video of Kuhn lipsyncing to the song, which was released in October 2012. After a year of piecing material together, the video debuted that same month and quickly picked up steam on Reddit and YouTube.

The video is one of 10 finalists for the Prism Prize, which is chosen by a jury of Canadian music industry professionals. A cash prize will be awarded to the best Canadian music video of the year, based on artistic merit as determined by the jury.

The winner will be announced on March 24.

The Hamilton group released its sophomore album Stay Young, featuring "Two Reasons," last fall. They've just wrapped up a tour in Quebec and are now gearing up to play a number of European music festivals this summer.
