It’s been over 30 years since John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John left Rydell High, but now comes the announcement that the two have reunited for a Christmas album titled This Christmas.
The album will feature 13 songs of holiday standards, including an original track called I Think You Might like It. The original tune is being promoted as a follow-up to You’re the One that I Want – which is penned by Grease songwriter John Farrar.
The record will also feature guest spots by Tony Bennett, Kenny G and James Taylor. According to Universal Music, proceeds from the album will go towards the Jett Travolta Foundation and the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre in Australia.
The idea for the album came when Newton-John sent Travolta a Christmas text message noting You’re the One that I Want had become the best-selling duet of all time. Newton-John said a statement that the recording process was an enjoyable one.
“We all felt a wonderful, joyful energy while recording this album," she said. "We want to make a lot of people smile and happy. It's a project that we're hoping turns into a perennial, one that can continue to raise money for these causes year after year, a gift that keeps on giving."
Though dogged with controversy, Travolta has stayed out of the limelight since his son Jett passed away after suffering from a seizure in 2009.
Newton-John released a cookbook titled LivWise: Easy Recipes for Healthy, Happy Life earlier this year.
The record hits stores on Nov. 13 and is available for pre-order on Amazon.com.
