Keri Rodden-Kemp, the enthusiastic cocktail waitress from Kilbride, hit the red carpet for the third time as a correspondent for The Ellen DeGeneres Show during Sunday's Emmy Awards.
Rodden-Kemp first came to talk show host DeGeneres' attention during a Jan. 24, 2011 episode of her show, when she won a contest with a photo of her massively-coiffed high school hairdo back in 1989.

(courtesy The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Telepictures)DeGeneres was so impressed with Rodden-Kemp's high-energy personality that her show's producers invited Rodden-Kemp to cover the red carpet arrivals of musicians and celebrities at the 2011 Grammy Awards and 2011 Billboard Music Awards.
Last Thursday, producers from DeGeneres' talk show called Rodden-Kemp at her Toronto home to ask her to cover the award show for American television programs.
'Really? I'm going to do this again?'—Keri Rodden-Kemp
"It was the usual, 'oh my God', I can't believe it'," said Rodden-Kemp of last week's request.
"I paced the house, I'm bouncing up and down. Really? I'm going to do this again?"
Little preparation required
Rodden-Kemp said apart from checking out online who the nominees were, producers told her she didn't have to do much preparation work.
She flew to Los Angeles on Saturday to meet with with DeGeneres' production crew, and by Sunday afternoon, she was decked out in a formal gown, staking out the red carpet arrivals of television actors and celebrities.
Even though this was Rodden-Kemp's third red carpet event, she said this time, she was more nervous than she was at the Billboard and Grammy functions.
"The musicians are more relaxed, they're more down to earth, they're kind of more, loose, you know?" noted Rodden-Kemp. "Then [at the Emmys] you get these Tom Hanks and Jessica Langes walking down the carpet, and they're serious. They're not, you know, laughing their heads off."
Rodden-Kemp said some of the actors were taken aback by her enthusiasm.
"And then they come up to me and I'm like, 'well, hello! I love you!' then they're kind of like, 'whoa'!"
Rodden-Kemp said despite the stars' surprise at her over-the-top antics, they were gracious.
"When they're walking away they take my hand and they go 'You know what? Live in the moment. Enjoy.' "
Jimmy Fallon a highlight
Rodden-Kemp said the highlight of the event for her was meeting talk show host and comedian Jimmy Fallon.
"Jimmy Fallon is my male equivalent to Ellen. He makes me smile, I love Jimmy Fallon," said Rodden-Kemp.
"It was THE best moment. When he walked away, I couldn't stand up. My knees were like, giving out."
Rodden-Kemp returned to Toronto earlier this week and resumed working at her waitressing job. She said she has no idea whether producers from The Ellen DeGeneres Show will call her back.
But as she was leaving Los Angeles, Rodden-Kemp said one producer told her,
"Keri, you get that out of your head right now. We will definitely be seeing you again."
