Leah Davis, 15, of Conception Bay South, is the excited owner of a black Fender Telecaster electric guitar she saw played by country music star Keith Urban at a concert in St. John's.
Urban gave her his guitar during his performance at Mile One Centre on Tuesday.
Urban interacted with his audience, often singing on small platforms in sections of the audience and pulling fans up on stage to sing or dance with him.
About half an hour into his high-energy show, Urban stepped onto a platform in Davis's section to the side of the main stage to sing and play guitar.
When Davis and her friend rushed to the bottom of the platform to get a close up view, Davis caught the country singer's eye.
"And then he grabbed my hand and so I was like, ohmigod, Keith Urban just touched me, oh my goodness, and then he pulled me to the side and then pulled me up on the platform with him, and then he gave me his guitar," recounted Davis.
"And I was just on the platform with the guitar, screaming at the top of my lungs, and shaking because I was so excited, it was just crazy. "
Teen thought she was holding the guitar temporarily
Davis said she thought Urban had given her the guitar to hold temporarily while he continued with his performance. But when she approached a Mile One staffer after the show to find a way to return the instrument, the employee pointed to an inscription on the guitar strap.
"And then the guitar strap says 'I went to a Keith Urban show and all I got was this lousy guitar'," exclaimed Davis.
Davis had been teaching herself to play an acoustic guitar, but now she's going to learn her new electric instrument.
"I think it would be really cool to use this guitar because because, like, so much magic came out of it from Keith Urban."
