The Salmon Festival made a big splash in Grand Falls-Windsor on Saturday, with town officials putting initial attendance estimates in the range of 20,000 people.

The day-long music event, featuring headliner Aerosmith, drew what many consider to be the biggest crowd yet.

Mayor Al Hawkins says while organizers don't have an exact number, there's no doubt the show was a huge success.

"Some people are saying in the 20s, some people are saying 25,000," Hawkins said.

"Really, it's very difficult to say until we get that final count in, but we're really pleased with the numbers, and it's certainly very successful."

Hawkins said the show ran smoothly, although there's still room for improvement with regards to lineups for concessions and portable toilets.

This year's lineup was rounded out by Cheap Trick, Uncle Kracker, Flo Rida and Carly Rae Jepsen.

The town has confirmed it will be booking another big name act next year.
