Comedians Steve Patterson and Debra DiGiovanni, The Daily Show correspondent Samantha Bee and sketch troupe Picnicface are among the 2011 winners of the Canadian Comedy Awards.
Organizers of the annual celebration named the Toronto-raised Bee 2011's Canadian comedy person of the year at a gala Monday night in Toronto.

Jason DeCrow/Associated PressMontreal-born Patterson, host and moderator of CBC's The Debaters, and popular Toronto-area comedian DiGiovanni took the best male and female stand-up honours, respectively, while Halifax-based Picnicface earned the title of best sketch troupe or company.
Winnipeg-based TV comedy Less Than Kind was a double-winner, earning kudos for its direction (by James Dunnison) and for actress Brooke Palsson (best female TV performance). The coming-of-age summer camp film Summerhood scored two honours: best film and best film direction for Halifax's Jacob Medjuck.
The dark, Montreal-set comedy Good Neighbours also picked up a pair of awards: best male film performance for Jay Baruchel and best film writing for filmmaker Jacob Tierney.

- Best Male Improviser: Ron Pederson
- Best Female Improviser: Sarah Hillier
- Best Taped Live Performance: Nikki Payne (Halifax Comedy Fest 2010)
- Best Writing, Television Program or Series: Ken Finkleman (Good Dog)
- Best Television Performance, Male: Jason Priestley (Call Me Fitz)
- Best Television Performance, Ensemble: James Harnett, Hannah Hogan, Alana Johnston, Kayla Lorette, Joey Lucius, Alex Spencer, AJ Vaage (That's So Weird)
- Best Film Performance, Female: Maria del Mar (A Touch of Grey)
- Dave Broadfoot Award: Jayne Eastwood
- Best Radio Clip or Program: This Is That (Pat Kelly and Peter Oldring)
- Best Web Clip: That Thing That Happened
- Best TV Show: This Movie Sucks!
Monday night's awards ceremony wrapped five days of comedy performances, workshops, seminars and presentations by some of Canada's top comics and comedy industry professionals.
