Injured Spider-Man actor to return to show

A stuntman who was badly injured in a fall during a performance of Broadway's Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark is to return to the show next week.
Christopher Tierney suffered a fractured skull and shoulder blade, four broken ribs and three broken vertebrae when he fell nine metres into the orchestra pit on Dec. 20.
The actor had stated his intention to return to the show from the day after his fall. His father said from his New Hampshire home that Tierney cannot wait to begin rehearsals again.
On Wednesday, Canadian producer Michael Cohl confirmed that Tierney has been cleared by doctors to rejoin the show.
"His back's fine. They've taken the bolts and the nuts and everything out," Cohl said.

The ambitious show has had numerous technical mishaps and accidents, and repeatedly postponed its official opening in the hope of getting a smooth production.
Directed by Julie Taymor and with music by Bono and the Edge, Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark is currently closed for a revamp that may include rewriting the final scenes.
Tierney hopes to be swinging over the audience again on opening night June 14.
