The Black Keys admit they like to appear on The Colbert Report to make fun of their reputation as rock stars.

The American music duo, comprised of vocalist-guitarist Dan Auerbach and drummer-producer Patrick Carney, have an appearance slated for the Dec. 3 episode of Saturday Night Live and will return to The Colbert Report soon afterwards.

The two friends, who met in Akron, Ohio as teens, will release their latest recording El Camino on Tuesday and their TV appearances are ramping up anticipation for their seventh studio album.

The Grammy-winners spoke to Jian Ghomeshi, host of CBC’s Q cultural affairs show, about how they achieve their rock sound and what motivates them to continue in the music business.
