Paul McCartney is back to form and ready to hit the road again, the rock icon and former Beatle told fans in a brief video update.

McCartney, 72, was forced to cancel the sold-out Japanese and South Korean leg of his ongoing world tour after falling ill in May with a virus that landed him in hospital.

It also delayed the start of several U.S. concert dates.

"Everybody’s been asking me how I feel. I feel great. Thank you very much for asking," a healthy and energetic-looking McCartney said in a short video posted on his official website and on YouTube Tuesday evening.

"Come and see us and we'll come and see you. Feeling great, rockin' and rolling. Yeah!" he declares as he plays a bit of air guitar.

McCartney is set resume his Out There tour with a concert July 5 in Albany, N.Y.
