Tom Power, host of CBC Radio 2 Morning, shares his picks of two great new releases and a must-have re-issue.

Kicking it off this week is the young, dreadlocked Corner Brook folk singer and winner of CBC's Searchlight competition, Sherman Downey and the Ambiguous Case. The group's new release is The Sun in Your Eyes.

"It's a little bit of country, a little bit of bluegrass, a little bit of punk, a little bit of reggae. Whatever it is, it's entirely original," says Power.

Next up is Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings. In Give The People What They Want, the former Rikers Island prison guard-turned-superstar soul singer delivers R&B that harkens back to James Brown's era.

Rounding up the tally this week is the re-release of Van Morrison's classic 1970 album Moondance, featuring a second disk packed with outtakes, studio b-sides and songs that didn't make the original pressing.
