Perennial rumours that rock legends the Rolling Stones are set to retire were revived over the weekend, but have just as quickly been scuttled.

U.K. tabloid The Sun ran a story on the weekend that an upcoming Rolling Stones world tour — reportedly slated for 2011 — would be the veteran band's last.

"The band realize that age is creeping up on them. They want to bow out on top of their game, and not short-change their fans," according to an anonymous source.

But a band representative refuted the claim to Entertainment Weekly, as did bandmember Ronnie Wood, who said the group has no intention of quitting.

"We have all agreed this won't be the last time. Everyone's rocking," he said, according to U.K.'s Daily Express.

The Stones — comprised of Wood, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Charlie Watts — completed a highly successful world tour in 2007 in support of the album A Bigger Bang.

Earlier this spring, the band reissued Exile on Main St. to coincide with the debut of the documentary Stones in Exile, which explores the making of the band's classic 1972 album.
