A caricature drawn by John Lennon of himself and his wife, Yoko Ono, during their 1969 bed-in peace protest in Montreal has fetched $58,100 Cdn.

The doodle was part of a sale of rock memorabilia held by Christie's in London on Thursday night.

The felt-pen portrait was drafted during the couple's infamous bed-in, an anti-Vietnam War protest, at the venerable Queen Elizabeth hotel in downtown Montreal.

During their week-long stay in May, the couple held interviews from their bed and also recorded Give Peace A Chance with a group of their friends.

Other notable memorabilia auctioned off included a Michael Jackson sequined jacket, which sold for 10 times its estimated price, at $35,095 Cdn.

A Gibson guitar used by Pete Townshend of The Who went for $76,818 Cdn. Townshend used it for the group's 1971 tour.
