Singer Bret Michaels, who has endured a stroke, a brain hemorrhage and an emergency appendectomy in the past two months, says he's forging ahead with all his professional activities.

The 47-year-old rocker says he's continuing with a concert tour — which begins this weekend — a new album and his reality series on VH1.

"I think this is good for my soul," Michaels told Billboard magazine. "Honestly, I'm taking every precaution. I'm not doing anything stupid."

The Poison frontman was near death in late April when he suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage, which causes severe cranial bleeding and back pain.

Then he was rushed back to hospital in May due to a stroke, and that's when doctors discovered he had a hole in his heart. The condition is unrelated to the hemorrhage.

He recovered in time to appear on the finale of Celebrity Apprentice, winning the competition.

Also diabetic

The performer has had a raft of health problems. In addition to the appendectomy in mid-April, he has Type 1 diabetes.

"I'm going on stage and telling the fans that I'm going to give 100 per cent of everything I've got, but if it's only 75 or 80 per cent, I think they will understand," said Michaels, who added that he's not going to be partying very hard or doing any stage dives.

Meanwhile, production on Michaels's new reality show, Life As I Know It, which was halted when he entered the hospital, is slated to continue with new instalments to air in the fall.

The pilot episode, with footage shot before the singer's health scares, aired Monday.
