U2 has soared to the top of the musician money charts, raking in more than $108 million US, according to Billboard magazine.

The music publication says the Irish rockers made $108.6 million in 2009 from record sales, touring and other royalties.

It's not surprising, considering the band was the top touring act in the U.S. last year, selling 1.3 million tickets for its 20 concerts.

Far behind in second place was Bruce Springsteen at $57.6 million, followed by Madonna at $47 million.

The four-man band is still in the middle of its 360 Degree world tour, considered the most expensive one ever staged.

Rounding out the top 10 are:

  • AC/DC, $43.7 million.
  • Britney Spears, $38.9 million.
  • Pink, $36.3 million.
  • Jonas Brothers, $33.6 million.
  • Coldplay, $27.3 million.
  • Kenny Chesney, $26.6 million.
  • Metallica, $25.6 million.
