Ronnie Wood and Ekaterina Ivanova are seen at the 2009 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in Cleveland in April. Wood received a police caution on Tuesday over a recent assault near his home in southern England. (Ron Schwane/Associated Press) British police issued a formal warning to veteran rock star Ronnie Wood on Tuesday over a recent incident of assault near his home in southern England.
Surrey police said they have issued a caution to a 62-year-old man over a domestic incident in Esher, in southern England, earlier this month, but gave no other details.
A spokesman for the Rolling Stones rocker confirmed that Wood received a police warning. While not a criminal conviction, the caution remains on record with the authorities for five years.
"I am greatly relieved that this matter is resolved and look forward to 2010 very positively," Wood said in a statement.
The private life of the longtime rock guitarist has made headlines of late with the dissolution of his 24-year marriage to Jo Wood, with whom he has two children, amid his relationship with a 21-year-old former cocktail waitress, Ekaterina Ivanova.
Neither police nor Wood's spokesman identified the victim of the assault. However, it was widely reported that the victim was Ivanova. The relationship has since ended.
Wood's divorce was granted in November and becomes final this month.
In 2008, he also re-entered a rehabilitation centre to treat alcoholism.
In addition to his duties as a guitarist with the Rolling Stones, Wood has also gained some reknown as a painter, with his works displayed in a host of galleries.

Pushing Chinese stars beyond gimmick Hollywood roles by Jessica Wong May. 22, 2013 4:49 PM Li Bingbing is the latest comely Chinese face joining a major Hollywood production -- in this case, Michael Bay's fourth instalment of Transformers. With Hollywood eager to tap into China's massive movie-going audience, it's become de rigueur to score a beautiful and popular Chinese actress for tentpole movies. However, some Chinese moviegoers want more than gimmicky roles for their homegrown stars and nonsensical cuts of blockbusters screened in China alone.
