(Julien's Auctions/Associated Press)Michael Jackson’s iconic rhinestone-studded glove got the white-glove treatment on Saturday, bringing $350,000 US on the auction block in New York.

One of the most famous pieces of pop memorabilia, the glove was among other Jackson items auctioned by Julien’s Auctions at the Hard Rock Café in Times Square.

Fans roared and squealed as bidders drove the price of the white glove far above the pre-auction estimate of between $40,000 and $60,000 US.

Jackson fans waited hours on Saturday for his costumes and other memorabilia to come up for sale.

Before the auction, Anita Bailey, 43, of Queens, said she hoped to bid on a jacket or outfit but considered the glove out of her price range.

"I'm going to leave the holy grail alone," she said.

The late pop star wore it while performing what was to become his trademark Moonwalk dance on Motown’s 25th-anniversary TV special in 1983.

The glove is a store-bought item covered with a mesh of rhinestones.

Jackson, who died on June 25 at the age of 50, gave it to Walter (Clyde) Orange of the Commodores singing group, after the performance.

Also auctioned was the fedora Jackson wore for the Moonwalk dance. It sold for $22,000 US.
