The new album is the first since Jacksoul frontman Haydain Neale, seen after the act's 2007 Juno Award win, was involved in a serious traffic accident. (Adrian Wyld/Canadian Press) Juno Award-winning group Jacksoul will release its first album since frontman Haydain Neale was seriously injured in a traffic accident more than two years ago.

Sony Music says SOULmate will hit shelves Dec. 1 and feature 10 new tracks. The first single, Lonesome Highway, will debut on radio and iTunes next Tuesday.

Sony says the song was co-produced and co-written by Neale and touches on his journey of recovery, supported by his wife, Michaela, daughter Yasmin and numerous others.

Neale was in critical condition in hospital after being hit by a car while driving his Vespa motor scooter in Toronto on Aug. 3, 2007. Toronto police charged a man under the Highway Traffic Act with making an unsafe turn.

Sony says the new album, the band's fifth, contains 10 tracks mostly written before Neale's accident and recorded over the last six months, after his recovery.

"It takes me more time now, but I still orchestrate the room," Neale said in a statement.

All proceeds from the sale of SOULmate will go to the Haydain Neale Family Trust. Jacksoul's previous hits include Can't Stop and Still Believe in Love.
