(Claude Paris/Associated Press)Living above a musical icon apparently isn't as fun as one might imagine, according to Madonna's Manhattan neighbour, who has filed a lawsuit alleging the pop singer uses her flat as a rehearsal studio.

Karen George, who lives above Madonna in a ritzy Central Park West building, filed a lawsuit in Manhattan Supreme Court on Friday against the building's co-op board, accusing it of not taking sufficent action against Madonna for excessive noise and disruption.

According to the lawsuit, neighbours have to deal with "blaring music, stomping and shaking walls" from Madonna's $4-million US, seventh-floor apartment for up to three hours a day.

George also complained that "Madonna and one or more of her invited guests repeatedly dance and train... to unreasonably high-decibel, amplified music, causing noise and vibration to pour through the walls, ceilings and radiators."

Officials representing the board say they have already threatened the entertainer with eviction if she didn't contain the noise. The complaints started more than a year ago as she prepared for her Sticky and Sweet world tour.

Representatives for the singer have not issued comment.
