Colombian police arrested more than 100 people in Bogota over the weekend after a mob attempted to crash heavy-metal band Iron Maiden's concert.

According to a police report issued on Sunday, the mob damaged signs and traffic lights outside Simon Bolivar Park and attempted to rush the gates before the Saturday concert began.

The gatecrashers, described as "malcontents who wanted to enter without tickets," began throwing rocks at police, who responded with tear gas.

Altogether, 111 were initially arrested, with 37 men and three women remaining in custody as of Sunday, according to the police report.

The 40 in custody will have to "assume the costs of the stoplights and traffic signs they damaged without cause," the police said.

Those injured during the incident included one riot officer, who underwent reconstructive facial surgery on Sunday.

Iron Maiden, which held its concert before approximately 25,000 fans as planned, did not comment on the incident.

The British band resumes its tour through South America with a concert in Quito, Ecuador, on Tuesday.
