The late John Allan Cameron, known as the Godfather of Celtic music, will be inducted into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame this September.

The Canadian Country Music Association on Thursday named three inductees for its virtual Hall of Fame. The other two are Sheila Hamilton, the former executive director of the CCMA, and broadcaster Cliff Dumas.

Cameron, an Order of Canada recipient, reintroduced the traditional music of his native Cape Breton to Canadians starting in the 1960s and paved the way for a new generation of Celtic musicians. He died last November at age 67.

Dumas has been the voice of CMT Canada for almost 15 years and helped launch Toronto's first country FM station. He has been named radio personality of the year for the nationally syndicated program Canadian Country Countdown, which he hosted with his wife, Lisa.

The inductions will take place during Country Music Week from Sept. 7-10 in Regina.

The week culminates with the Canadian Country Music Awards on Sept. 10 in the Saskatchewan capital.

The nominees for the Fan Choice Award, the only award voted on by country music fans, were announced Friday.

Veteran country star George Canyon, who won in 2005, and pop/country singer Terri Clark, who won in 2006, are among the nominees, along with Calgary singer Paul Brandt, Winnipeg band Doc Walker and Carolyn Dawn Johnson of Deadwood, Alta.

Nominees for rest of the Country Music Awards will be announced Aug. 1.
