A bass guitar Paul McCartney tossed into the crowd at a Beatles concert in Britain decades ago has found its way to Montenegro, according to a report Sunday.

McCartney threw the Hofner Violin bassĀ into the audience after its neck broke, said Vesti, a Serbian-language newspaper published in Frankfurt.

Milan Dobrilovic, a Montenegrin cameraman, recently donated the guitar to a music school in Herceg Novi, a tiny town on Montenegro's Adriatic coast. Dobrilovic said he received the guitar from a cousin, who caught it at the concert. The paper did not mention the year the show took place.

The violin-shaped instrument was made famous by McCartney, who adopted it in 1961 and still uses the same model.

Guitars proven to have been owned by former Beatles members including McCartney and John Lennon have sold at auction for upward of $750,000.

McCartney and his estranged wife, Heather Mills McCartney, are currently going through divorce proceedings.

The pair announced their separation last May after four years of marriage, with Mills McCartney reportedly alleging in divorce papers that the former Beatle physically abused her.
