The Rolling Stones top a Forbes list of the top money-makers in the music industry in 2006, with $150.6 million US in earnings.

The Stones' Bigger Bang tour grossed $138.5 million US, making it the top grossing tour in the world, with a show in Regina reaping $12 million Cdn., a record for a Canadian concert.
The top 10 list of money makers in music has two Canadian entries: Celine Dion, the Quebec-born chanteuse who is estimated to have made $85.2 million US, most of it in Las Vegas; and Vancouver band Nickelback, who are estimated to have made $74.1 million US.
The list is based on Nielsen SoundScan and Pollstar data on North American tour earnings and music sales in the United States.

The second, third and sixth positions are occupied by country stars. Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, a couple who performed together in their 2006 tour, ranked second with earnings of $132 million US, country trio Rascal Flatts followed with $110.5 million US and Kenny Chesney ranked sixth with $90.1 million US.
The fourth and fifth spots were occupied by veteran divas Madonna and Barbra Streisand. Madonna is estimated to have earned $96.8 million in 2006, most of it on her Confessions tour, and Streisand $95.8 million US in just 20 concerts.
