A couple has slapped a lawsuit on KISS bassist Gene Simmons, alleging the performer assaulted them in a mall.

Nathan Marlowe and Cynthia Manzo claim Simmons — currently starring on his own reality show with his longtime partner, Canadian Shannon Tweed — went ballistic when they started to film him at a Los Angeles mall last weekend.

The pair says the 60-year-old rocker attacked and threatened them and took their video camera.

Matthew Nezhad, the couple's lawyer, says a police report was filed. The couple even sought a restraining order against Simmons on Wednesday, but that petition was denied.

According to the complaint and restraining order application, Marlowe asked Simmons for his view on monogamy. Simmons's reaction was to tell Marlowe to get his shot and leave. The bassist then lunged and attacked Marlowe, grabbing the video camera, the claim alleges. He also turned on Manzo when she tried to get the camera back.

No charges have been filed and Simmons has yet to respond to the claim.

The couple is seeking damages of more than $25,000 US for assault, battery and infliction of emotional distress.
