Political blogger Kady O'Malley is making the switch from Maclean's magazine to CBC News.

O'Malley, who has covered federal politics for more than a decade, will be part of the CBC News team covering Ottawa and will blog for CBCNews.ca, beginning Oct. 26.

She has covered federal politics as a freelance writer for the Hill Times, the Ottawa Citizen, Canadian Business and other publications, and her Maclean's blog, Inside the Queensway, has a loyal following.

O'Malley has appeared on CBC Newsworld and The National as an expert on federal politics and is a frequent guest on Ottawa Report on CBC Radio.

"Blogging for CBCNews.ca is an amazing opportunity," O'Malley said in a statement released Tuesday by CBC.

"It's the destination of choice for people around the world looking to keep up with Canadian politics. Its readers are among the most informed, and I am thrilled to bring my passion for covering politics to this loyal audience."

She will work on Parliament Hill with CBC correspondents Evan Solomon, Kathleen Petty, Terry Milewski and Chris Hall. The name of her CBC.ca blog has yet to be announced.
