Farrah Fawcett was diagnosed with cancer in 2006. She has been pursuing alternative cancer treatment in Germany. (Rene Macura/Associated Press)Farrah Fawcett's cancer has spread to her liver, but the former Charlie's Angels star is "not on death's door," according to a friend and producer.
The 1970s icon, who has checked into a Los Angeles hospital, is "doing fantastic," Craig Nevius, who produced an upcoming documentary about Fawcett's cancer battle, said in a phone interview with the Associated Press on Monday.
She is in hospital because of a blood clot that was likely a side effect of treatment she recently had in Germany, he said, also revealing that the anal cancer she was diagnosed with in 2006 has since "metastasized to her liver."
"Her fight goes on.... She's not going anywhere anytime soon," Nevius added. "She's not unconscious. She is not on death's door. The family has not gathered to say goodbye."
The 62-year-old actor was reportedly hospitalized late last week.
In a separate statement, Fawcett's doctor, Lawrence Piro, confirmed that Fawcett had suffered abdominal bleeding and a hematoma while undergoing aggressive alternative cancer treatments in Germany.
Though recent photos showed her in a wheelchair, the Los Angeles-based cancer specialist said she had only been using it because of pain from the procedure.
"She's able to walk," he said. "That pain, which was coming from the hematoma, had nothing directly to do with the cancer."
Piro also praised the actress for remaining "in good spirits with her usual sense of humour. She's been in great shape her whole life, and has an incredible resolve and an incredible resilience."
Fawcett was diagnosed with anal cancer in the fall of 2006. Though she said the cancer was in remission after just a few months, it returned in 2007. She has pursued alternative treatment in Germany and documented her experiences, sharing the footage with entertainment television shows in 2008.
A Wing and a Prayer, a documentary Fawcett and Nevius filmed about her cancer fight, is forthcoming and slated for broadcast by NBC.
Though she has had a host of television roles over the years, the Texan is still most associated with her role on Aaron Spelling's 1970s-era TV series Charlie's Angels, about a trio of crime-fighting heroines.
In other news, Los Angeles police have revealed that they arrested Redmond O'Neal, Fawcett's 24-year-old son with actor Ryan O'Neal, for alleged possession of narcotics on Sunday morning, while visiting a friend in jail.
The arrest comes just months after he and his father were arrested after police allegedly found drugs in their home in a routine probation visit.

FILM REVIEW: Men in Black 3 by Eli Glasner May. 25, 2012 11:40 AM Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones are back in the action sequel Men in Black 3, a third instalment of a series now 15 years old. Though new addition Josh Brolin manages some amazing mimicry as a younger version of Jones, the story doesn't measure up to the weird and wonderful charms of the original, says film reviewer Eli Glasner.
