Julie Couillard, who sparked a political scandal involving former federal Tory cabinet minister and ex-boyfriend Maxime Bernier, has snagged a new gig: radio commentator.

Montreal's English-language radio station CJAD has hired Couillard to make regular on-air appearances, beginning Friday and continuing on Wednesday mornings from then on as part of a weekly panel.

Station officials would not reveal how long Couillard will be serving as a commentator for CJAD. However, Mike Bendixen, the station's program director, emphasized that the gig will not lead to Couillard hosting a show of her own.

Bernier, formerly the foreign affairs minister, resigned his cabinet post in May after Couillard revealed in a TV interview that during their courtship, he left classified government documents relating to a NATO meeting at her Montreal home.

During the controversy, Couillard also made headlines when it emerged that she had previously been involved in the 1990s with men tied to the Hells Angels biker gang.

Couillard's tell-all memoir about her life and relationship with Bernier, who was re-elected by a wide margin in the Oct. 14 vote, hit bookstores earlier this month, in the midst of the Canadian election campaign.

In My Story, she portrays the Quebec Conservative MP as a vain, superficial womanizer who frequently spoke ill of Prime Minister Stephen Harper.
