Officers arrested the Irish star of the miniseries The Tudors on Sunday at the gate of British airline BMI.
Rhys Meyers had been in Dublin to appear on national nighttime talk show Tubridy Tonight to promote his new film, August Rush.
Dublin Airport Police said they called Ireland's national police force, the Garda Siochana, after Rhys Meyers — who was scheduled to fly to London — clashed with airport staff, showed erratic and abusive behaviour and refused to calm down.
Rhys Meyers was released after paying an undisclosed bail but must return to Dublin for an arraignment on Dec. 5.
Earlier this year, the 30-year-old actor spent about a month in a California rehabilitation clinic. In the past, the young actor has discussed his attempts to give up drinking and focus on his career.
Rhys Meyers, now filming the second season of The Tudors, has risen in prominence in the past few years after acclaimed performances in films like Woody Allen's Match Point, Gurinder Chadha's Bend It Like Beckham and as Elvis Presley in the 2005 miniseries Elvis.

FILM REVIEW: Men in Black 3 by Eli Glasner May. 25, 2012 11:40 AM Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones are back in the action sequel Men in Black 3, a third instalment of a series now 15 years old. Though new addition Josh Brolin manages some amazing mimicry as a younger version of Jones, the story doesn't measure up to the weird and wonderful charms of the original, says film reviewer Eli Glasner.
