Marilyn Manson collapsed on a Saskatoon stage Wednesday night after about an hour of a concert in support of his new album.

Manson, 44, who is on a comeback tour after fading from the spotlight in the 2000s, was singing Beautiful People when he sank to his knees and then collapsed on stage, a fan video shows.

The band, apparently thinking it was part of the shock rocker's act, kept on performing until observers helped the singer off stage.

Manson, whose real name is Brian Hugh Warner, is known for controversial lyrics and extreme behaviour on stage.

There was no comment on the collapse on the rocker’s website.

He is touring in support of Born Villain, an album he released last year that earned him a Grammy nomination.

Manson supported his comeback with an appearance on the show Californication and a role in the indie feature Wrong Cops, which debuted at Sundance.

Manson is scheduled to perform in Calgary on Friday, Edmonton on Saturday and Vancouver on Feb. 11. There has been no statement yet on whether those shows will go ahead.
