A musical shape-shifter, eclectic singer Kelis treads new territory once again with her latest album, Food.

The award-winning American singer — perhaps still best known for her blockbuster 2003 track Milkshake — takes a soulful but modern turn in this most recent release, marking her sixth studio album.

Aside from her performing career, Kelis — born to a musician father and a chef mother — is also Cordon Bleu-trained, having studied and graduated from the world famous culinary school as a saucier.

In the attached video, the singer talks to CBC's Zulekha Nathoo about her new sound and her love of cooking and music.
