Leslie Knope, the Parks and Recreation character played by comedian Amy Poehler, has long had an open and squirm-inducing crush on U.S. Vice-President Joe Biden.
Now Biden has made her day, confirming on Thursday that he has filmed a cameo in the NBC comedy series.
"My whole family loves the show, and I had a great time doing it,'' Biden said on Twitter.
The news came out after Biden was re-elected as vice president on Tuesday. The filming was completed in July in Washington, D.C., but the Parks and Recreation team had to meet strict terms to keep the appearance under wraps until after the election.
In the episode to air next Thursday, Ben Wyatt (Adam Scott) will take Knope, who is his fiancée, to the White House to meet Biden.
"[Leslie] has a lot of female heroes that cross party lines. She has a lot of social figures that she considers heroes, but the funniest hero is Joe Biden," executive producer Michael Schur told Entertainment Weekly.
"There’s an episode last season where she says, ‘Joe Biden is on my celebrity sex list — well, he is my celebrity sex list.’"
Schur said Biden watches the show with his family and while on the set, he congratulated the cast for the "pro-public service message" it delivers.
