Canadian Idolwinner Eva Avila, Quebec singer and pianist Gregory Charles, and East Coast rocker Joel Plaskett will compete against other chart toppers at the Canadian Radio Music Awards.

Intheir 10th year, the annual awards recognize Canadian artists who have received the most "spins" on domestic radio in the past year, as determined by BDS Nielsen Soundscan. Winners are determined by a panel of radio music and program directors, and on-air radio personalities from across the country.

This year's nominees announced by organizers on Monday include:

Best new solo artist, rock chart:

Best new group or solo artist, dance/urban/rhythmic chart:

Best new solo artist, hot adult contemporary chart:

  • Brian Byrne, Far From Good

Best new group or solo artist, mainstream adult contemporary chart:

Fans' choice award:

Awards will be presented in nine categories — one the fans' choice award — at a ceremony in Toronto on March 10 as part of the festivities during Canadian Music Week.

Two additional, non-voted awards will also be presented at the lunchtime ceremony: the breakthrough award, which recognizes the new artist who achieved the top airplay last year, and the chart-topper award,for theartist who achieved the year's top overall airplay.

Hosted by R&B artist Jully Black, the awards ceremony will also include the induction of rock band Triumph and hit producer David Fosterinto the Canadian Music Industry Hall of Fame.
