A Canadian woman accused of attacking Inception star Leonardo DiCaprio has been placed under a restraining order by a Los Angeles judge.

Aretha Wilson, 40, has been ordered not to contact or come within 450 metres of the star.

DiCaprio needed about a dozen stitches to his face and neck after being attacked by a woman at a private Hollywood party in 2005.

Wilson faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon — a broken beer bottle. She has not yet entered a plea in the case, which will continue later this month.

She was extradited from Canada last month to face the charges. On Wednesday, the judge raised her bail to $150,000 US, saying he was concerned about her "willingness and ability to come back to court."

Wilson is accused of sneaking into a party hosted by Paris Hilton's former boyfriend, Rick Salomon. According to police, she mistook DiCaprio for an ex-boyfriend and attacked him with the bottle.

DiCaprio filed a formal criminal complaint with authorities and is reported to be ready to testify against her.
