(Jemal Countess/Getty Images)After landing France's first lady for his next film, iconic American filmmaker Woody Allen has now revealed details about the upcoming feature, which will be set in Paris.

Allen, who typically remains mum about his new projects, revealed details about the forthcoming romantic comedy Midnight in Paris in a statement issued Thursday.

"The film celebrates a young man's great love for Paris, and simultaneously explores the illusion people have that a life different from their own is better," the filmmaker wrote.

Last fall, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, the singer, former model and wife of French President Nicholas Sarkozy, revealed that she had agreed to appear in an Allen film.

"I don't know what the role would be, but I said yes," she told France's Canal+ network in November.

Along with the Bruni-Sarkozy, the cast will include Canadian actress Rachel McAdams as well as Americans Owen Wilson, Kathy Bates and Nina Arianda, French actress Marion Cotillard and Brits Michael Sheen and Tom Hiddleston.

The plot will follow a family travelling to the French capital on business as well as a young couple engaged to be married.

Filming is set to begin this summer, with an eye toward a 2011 theatrical release.

Allen's latest film, You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger, will make its debut at the Cannes Film Festival in May and is slated for a fall theatrical release. The film, set in London, stars Antonio Banderas, Josh Brolin, Anthony Hopkins, Freida Pinto and Naomi Watts.
