The Museum of Modern Art in New York is to pay tribute to late filmmaker Allan King, maker of Warrendale and A Married Couple, in a retrospective this March.
Who Has Seen the Wind, the feature King directed based on the novel by W.O. Mitchell, will be shown in the Canadian Front series, an annual showcase of Canadian film.
King, who died last June, was the subject of a full MOMA retrospective in 2007. He is known for his documentaries and cinéma vérité style.
Canada Front will bring eight Canadian films to the New York museum from March 17 to 22:
- De père en flic (Fathers and Guns), a comedy directed by Émile Gaudreault.
- Suck, the horror mockumentary written and directed by Rob Stefaniuk.
- La donation (The Legacy), a drama written and directed by Bernard Émond.
- Polytechnique, the Genie-nominated film directed by Denis Villeneuve.
- Crackie, a coming-of-age drama written and directed by Sherry White.
- Hugh Hefner: Playboy, Activist, and Rebel, a documentary directed by Brigitte Berman.
- Petropolis: Aerial Perspectives on the Alberta Tar Sands, a documentary made for Greenpeace by Peter Mettler.
Telefilm Canada works with MOMA to create the annual Canada Front program.

FILM REVIEW: Men in Black 3 by Eli Glasner May. 25, 2012 11:40 AM Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones are back in the action sequel Men in Black 3, a third instalment of a series now 15 years old. Though new addition Josh Brolin manages some amazing mimicry as a younger version of Jones, the story doesn't measure up to the weird and wonderful charms of the original, says film reviewer Eli Glasner.
