Director Wes Anderson arrives for the film premiere of The Darjeeling Limited at the London Film Festival on Nov. 1, 2007. His Fantastic Mr. Fox opens this year's festival. (Kirsty Wigglesworth/Associated Press)Fantastic Mr. Fox, a stop-motion animated film based on a story by Roald Dahl, will open the London Film Festival, organizers announced Monday.
Wes Anderson, the U.S. director behind The Royal Tenenbaums, is helming the film, which was produced at London's Three Mills Studios.
George Clooney provides the voice of Mr. Fox, the wily character who continually outwits three wealthy farmers so he can feed his hungry family.
Meryl Streep, Bill Murray, Anjelica Huston and Michael Gambon also provided voices for the film. British singer Jarvis Cocker, who also contributed voice work, has written several songs for the film.
The 53rd London Film Festival, backed by the British Film Institute, runs Oct. 14-29.
Anderson, who considers Dahl one of his heroes, said he tried to recreate the look of Great Missenden, the village in Buckinghamshire where the British author lived, in the film. He's been working on the film since 2004.
Fantastic Mr. Fox opens in Britain Oct. 23 and in North America on Nov. 13.

FILM REVIEW: Men in Black 3 by Eli Glasner May. 25, 2012 11:40 AM Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones are back in the action sequel Men in Black 3, a third instalment of a series now 15 years old. Though new addition Josh Brolin manages some amazing mimicry as a younger version of Jones, the story doesn't measure up to the weird and wonderful charms of the original, says film reviewer Eli Glasner.
