Historical epic romance sweeps Bollywood awards

(Vincent Yu/Associated Press)A historical epic romance between a Mughal king and a Hindu princess dominated the 10th International Indian Film Awards on Saturday in Macau, China.
Jodhaa Akbar, the story of a politically strategic marriage that blossomed into genuine love, won best picture award and best actor award for Hrithik Roshan, who played the king.
Ashutosh Gowariker took the award for best director. The film also took home best music direction, best song lyrics and best male playback singer awards.
The three-day Bollywood awards extravaganza included film and music launches, a celebrity fashion show and a performance by Cirque du Soleil.
Since its inception in London in 2002, the awards ceremony has been held in Amsterdam, Dubai, Bangkok and Sheffield, England.
Former Miss World Priyanka Chopra was named best actress for playing a model who stages a comeback in Fashion.
Veteran actor Rajesh Khanna received a lifetime achievement award and a standing ovation from an audience of thousands.
